St Patrick’s Day parade to take place this year after two years of absence

St Patrick’s Day parade will take place this year after two years of absence, the Minister for Tourism Catherine Martin has confirmed.

The parades were suspended in 2020 as well as in 2021 due to the threat from covid and the events of these years took place via online. But as the government announced lifting of almost all restrictions from today, a physical St Patrick’s Day parade will take place in March.

“I can confirm there will be a parade on St Patrick’s Day after two years of an absence, we will have a physical parade and actually the department is funding over two million euros in the events for that day and there will be strong online content as well,” Minister Martin said.

A two million euro fund has been allocated for the event and more details will follow, she added.
