Ireland is breaking with tradition this Christmas, trading typical winter temperatures for unusually mild weather, Met Éireann forecasts.
Christmas Day will see temperatures climb to an unseasonable 11 to 13 degrees, with cloudy skies dominating the holiday weather. While most of the country will stay dry, western regions can expect some light rain and drizzle, though brighter spells may break through the cloud cover throughout the day.
The mild conditions will persist into Christmas night, with temperatures remaining between 8 to 11 degrees. The night will start mostly dry, but Connacht and Ulster will experience more substantial rain and drizzle as the night progresses.
Looking ahead to St Stephen’s Day, the pattern continues with cloudy conditions and scattered rain, particularly in western and northern areas. The east and midlands might see occasional bright spells, with temperatures staying mild at 10 to 13 degrees under light to moderate southerly winds.
According to The Journal, this unseasonable warmth is set to characterize the entire week, with generally dull but dry conditions prevailing, interrupted only by occasional light rain and drizzle.
