Oscars: Irish nominees for the 94th Academy Awards

The Oscars ceremony takes place tonight and there is Irish interest in a number of categories.

Jessie Buckley, Kenneth Branagh, Ciarán Hinds, and Van Morrison have all been nominated.

Kerry native Buckley is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Lost Daughter, and she has been hotly-tipped for success.

She’s up against Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), Judi Dench (Belfast), Kirsten Dunst (The Power Of The Dog), and Aunjanue Ellis (King Richard).

Branagh, who wrote and directed Belfast, is up for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.

Hinds is also nominated for Belfast, in the Best Supporting Actor category.

Morrison is nominated for Belfast for Best Original Song but he will not perform at the ceremony due to a touring schedule clash.
