Over 8,500 landlords in Ireland have been contacted by the regulator amid concerns they are charging rents above legal limits, Irish Independent reported.

The Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) has emailed 8,652 landlords in recent months, highlighting potential breaches of rental cap rules. These landlords oversee more than 16,000 tenancies.
RTB Director Rosemary Steen warned that the board will take action against non-compliant landlords, stating: “We continue to target non-compliant landlords through our ongoing compliance work and two significant registration and RPZ [rental pressure zone] compliance campaigns.”
The RTB warning comes as data for the three months up to last September shows the cost of new rentals increased by over €100 annually to €1,700—a rise of 6.4 per cent.
