A record-breaking number of 71,494 Junior Cert students are eagerly anticipating their results today, marking a significant 5% increase from last year. The Junior Cert results will be available for collection either in school or online from 4 p.m. This year’s cohort of students represents the first time the number of Junior Cycle exam candidates has exceeded 70,000. A total of 600,000 grades will be issued across 21 individual subjects.
Minister of State for Special Education and Inclusion, Josepha Madigan, commended the students for their remarkable achievement, stating, “It’s their first state exam, and it can be a tricky exam, but they should congratulate themselves, no matter how they do today, for sitting the exam and enjoy their celebrations.”
Madigan also emphasized that students need not be overly anxious about their results, with the convenience of accessing them online. She reminded students that the Junior Cert is not as high-stakes as the Leaving Cert and offers a valuable experience for handling state exams before they face the more critical Leaving Cert in a few years.
