Dublin – Enterprise Minister Simon Coveney has announced that the Irish government is preparing to release a revamped list of employment permits, with the unveiling expected in mid-November. This development has sparked anticipation among thousands of employees, particularly nursing care assistants, who are hopeful that the restructuring of the job list will bring measures to facilitate family reunification for care assistants from non-EU countries.
The government’s initiative is a response to ongoing labor shortages across the nation. A comprehensive review of employment permit lists covering hundreds of occupations is currently in progress and is slated to conclude next month, according to Minister Simon Coveney.
Minister Coveney shared that the scrutiny of submissions received during the recent public consultation for the review of employment lists, which took place from June to August this year, is nearing completion, in collaboration with various government departments.
In the health sector, approximately 100 organizations, including the group “Overseas Health and Home Cares,” representing Indian care assistants in Ireland, have submitted petitions for a review. The forthcoming restructuring is poised to have a significant impact on the Irish job market, aiming to address pressing labor needs in various sectors.
