Sixth Confirmed Case of Measles in Ireland Sparks Caution

The Health Protection Surveillance Center (HPSC) has announced a sixth case of measles in Ireland, confirming the spread of the disease. This confirmation came on March 20, following five previous diagnoses in recent weeks.

Amidst the ongoing spread of measles across Britain and Europe, Ireland is actively administering the MMR vaccine. Plans are in place to provide this vaccine to children between the ages of 12 months and five years.

For those who missed vaccination during childhood, the vaccine is available free of charge through existing schemes. Special GP clinics are facilitating this process. The Department of Health emphasizes the importance of vaccination for those who remain unvaccinated, urging prompt action to acquire immunity against measles.
