Three arrested over 2012 fire that killed father and daughter

Three people have been arrested in connection with a fatal house fire in Co Kerry ten years ago.

Anthony O’Brien, 30, and his five-year-old daughter Nadine died in the fire in Tralee. The house fire occurred at their home at Kileen Heights on May 12th, 2012.

The fire broke out at Killeen Heights in Oakpark, at about 2.20am that morning.

The child’s mother, Kelly O’Brien was escaped by jumping from an upstairs window.

The alarm had been raised by neighbours who saw smoke coming from the semi-detached house.

Two men, both aged in their 40s, were arrested this morning and are being held at garda stations in Tralee and Killarney.

A criminal investigation was launched by gardaí after the fire and in June 2022, a man (30s) was arrested. He was subsequently released without charge and a file was being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
