TikTok Surpasses 2 Million Monthly Users In Ireland Despite Privacy Concerns

Dublin, Ireland – TikTok, the popular video-sharing platform, has announced that it now boasts over 2 million monthly users in Ireland. Cormac Keenan, Head of Trust and Safety at TikTok, expressed his gratitude to the Irish video creators who contributed to this milestone. The diverse content on the platform, spanning books, food, family, music, comedy, and art, has contributed to its growing popularity in the country.

However, this achievement comes amid concerns about the app’s data security. Ireland’s National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) recently advised government officials not to use TikTok due to alleged data leaks. Additionally, the Data Protection Commission (DPC) imposed a hefty fine of 345 million euros on TikTok for lacking safety features for users under 18. In response, TikTok has been granted permission to appeal the decision by the High Court.

It’s worth noting that TikTok is banned in India, raising questions about its global standing in the face of mounting privacy and security concerns.
