Toll charges rising to ‘maximum level’ from January

The highest price increases for road tolls are soon to be passed on to motorists.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), the state-owned road operator, claimed that the current rate of inflation was what ultimately led to the decision to increase tolls.

The cost of using one of the ten toll roads on the national road network will increase as a result of the changes by as much as 60 cents per trip.

On Dublin’s M50, tolls for vehicles with tags will increase from €2.10 to €2.30, for vehicles with video cameras, from €2.70 to €2.90, and for unregistered vehicles, from €3.20 to €3.50.

The country’s other eight public-private partnership companies’ tolls will also go up, by either 10 cents or 20 cents depending on the route.

The Dublin Port Tunnel is the only tolled road not facing an increase.

The above fees only apply to drivers of cars; van, bus, and heavy vehicle drivers will pay fees that are even higher.

The price increases will take effect on January 1st, 2023.
