Northern Ireland’s Police Service (PSNI) reported a shocking series of attacks that left 20 officers injured across various locations in just 24 hours, highlighting the growing dangers faced by law enforcement personnel.

The incidents spanned multiple areas, including Crossmaglen, Newry, Craigavon, Fermanagh, Derry, and Belfast. Each location presented its own violent scenario, from deliberate vehicle rammings to physical assaults and aggressive confrontations.
According to The Journal, notable incidents included a patrol car deliberately rammed in Crossmaglen, an officer sustaining a serious thumb injury in Newry, and multiple officers being assaulted while responding to domestic-related reports and suspected criminal activities.
Superintendent Rosie Thompson condemned the attacks as “shameful and unacceptable,” emphasizing that such violence against police officers cannot be considered a routine occupational hazard.
“Our officers are here to help and keep people safe,” Thompson stated. “Assaults on police must not be tolerated.”
The year-to-date statistics are equally concerning, with 58 officers already injured in similar incidents before this latest wave of attacks.
The PSNI has committed to rigorously investigating each of these assaults, underscoring the serious nature of violence against law enforcement personnel.
