Uisce Éireann has launched a new free-to-use text alert service with an aim to keep customers informed about water supply issues and ongoing maintenance work.
This service, now available to 1.6 million households across Ireland, will provide timely updates on both planned and unplanned water outages, according to the national water company.
Customers can easily sign up for the service through the water.ie website. This marks the first time that all Uisce Éireann customers can access such alerts, as the service was previously limited to vulnerable and business customers.
The text alert system will notify users of any service interruptions expected to last longer than four hours and will also include important information on boil water notices when necessary.
In 2023, Uisce Éireann managed over 12,000 planned and unplanned water outages across the country. The agency reported that more than 90 per cent of these outages were resolved within 24 hours.
