The body of a woman was discovered in a Cork apartment this morning, and the Garda in Cork are investigating her death. A man has been arrested.
A property in Cork City’s Liberty Street was where the discovery was made at around 6.30 in the morning.
After garda and other emergency services were alerted to the incident and discovered the woman, who was in her 20s, in an unresponsive state, they pronounced her dead at the scene.
Gardaí have sealed off the area to allow for a full technical examination. A post-mortem is expected to take place later.
Early this afternoon, the woman’s body was taken from the property and transported to Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem will be performed by Dr. Margot Bolster of the State Pathologist’s office.
Garda officials say the examination will help them decide how to proceed with the death investigation.

A man in his 20s has been arrested and is being held at the Bridewell Station in Cork.
