Young man killed in collision in Co Westmeath

In Co. Westmeath, a young man lost his life as a result of a traffic accident.

An accident involving a car that hit a parked car and a wall happened on the R148 at Griffinstown near Kinnegad.

The 20-year-old man was a passenger in the car.

Emergency services attended the scene where the passenger was pronounced dead.

Another 20-year-old male driver of the vehicle received medical attention at Mullingar’s Midland Regional Hospital. There is no danger to his life from his wounds.

The parked car that was struck was unoccupied when it happened, according to the Garda.

While the scene is being examined, the road is currently closed, and there are local traffic diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, including those with camera (dash cam) footage to come forward.
