16 people arrested from the protests against Level 5 restrictions in Dublin

The Garda have been very alert this afternoon as many protests have been planned all over Dublin. Almost 2500 people of Garda are currently patrolling different areas of Ireland and high security has been enabled at Dublin. 16 people were arrested from the series of protests. 10 people have been charged and was presented before the Dublin Court.

The protests showed their resistance to the lockdown system or Level 5 restrictions and people gathered in small numbers but many places were occupied by them. The protestors were calm and showed compliance to the rules of the nation. Even though they protested against a policy chosen by the State, they never made any ruckus.

Anne Marie McMahon, Deputy Commissioner, Policing and Security felt very happy and pleased with the way the protestors behaved. Even though there were many events happening, the protestors never made a disturbance or engaged in those programmes. Garda strengthened their patroling in the checkpoints and made sure that no one travelled non essentially outside 5kms from their home.
