Almost 30,000 children of 12-15 age cohort availed their first dose of Covid-19 vaccination throughout the weekend, the Health Service Executive (HSE) confirmed. As of Sunday afternoon, 90,000 children had registered for vaccines, the HSE chief Paul Reid said. They will be getting the shot soon.
Around 280,000 children are there in Ireland within the age of 12-15. The parents of these children are urged to bring them for vaccination as soon as possible and the The National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC)had earlier emphasized that the benefits of vaccine exceeded the side effects.
Meanwhile further 1,758 cases of Covid-19 infections reported in Ireland yesterday. As per the latest reports there are 248 patients being treated in hospitals from Covid complications and 48 of them are in ICUs. The HSE chief had expressed his concern over rising Covid cases in the country yesterday. But he also indicated that the severity of disease was low as the vaccination reached majority of the people.
