Cannabis, shotgun cartridges and cash seized in massive Dublin raid

A large quantity of drugs, shotgun shells, and cash were discovered by gardai in Dublin, resulting to the arrest of two people.

On Wednesday, shortly after 4 p.m., officers searching for an organised criminal gang raided a location in west Tallaght where they suspected there was a cannabis cultivating activity.

Approximately €40,000 worth of suspected cannabis herb and 50 suspected cannabis plants were discovered by the Gardai.

In addition to 50 shotgun cartridges, about €2,155 in cash was also seized. There was also a significant number of typical cannabis growth equipment, such as lighting, heating, ventilation, and irrigation systems, found.

A late-40s man was detained at a garda station in south Dublin after his arrest there. A guy in his late 30s was arrested and a large amount of cash was found during a follow-up search in Clondalkin.

The second man is currently being detained at a separate south Dublin garda station. A garda spokesman said: “The seized drugs (totaling €80,000) and the shotgun cartridges will now be sent for analysis to Forensic Science Ireland and the Garda Ballistics Unit respectively.

This operation is an example of An Garda Siochana’s ongoing efforts in dismantling organised crime groups affecting communities across the DMR. Garda investigations are ongoing.”
