Cork city set for housing boost: 350 new homes on the horizon

Cork’s skyline is about to change as plans for 350 new homes take shape in the city’s western suburbs. The Land Development Agency (LDA) is spearheading this exciting project, which promises to address the growing housing needs of Cork residents.

In a significant move, the ESB has agreed to transfer a 2.7-hectare greenfield site to the LDA. This prime piece of land, located at the ESB’s Sarsfield Road regional headquarters in Wilton, was purchased by the LDA last year for just over €3 million.

The LDA, a State-sponsored body, is now busy preparing plans for the development. This project is expected to bring a welcome influx of housing to the area, potentially easing the pressure on Cork’s property market.

According to Irish Examiner, as the city continues to grow and attract new residents, this development could play a crucial role in meeting the increasing demand for homes. Cork locals and potential newcomers alike will be watching closely as this ambitious project unfolds.
