Former US president Donald Trump has announced launching of his new media company with its own social media platform. Trump had faced strong criticism for using social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook for encouraging his followers to attack US Capitol months ago. As a result, he was expelled from many of these platforms.
According to Trump, the new media company named Trump Media & Technology Group and the social media platform TRUTH will be a rival for the other big tech companies that shut him down.
“We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favourite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable.” Trump said in a statement.
Trump’s company is formed after merging with a public listed company Digital World Acquisition Corporation in Miami.
A website for TRUTH platform expects its soft launch next month and full launching might be early next year in the US.
Trump was a businessman and television presenter before running for the presidential candidature and winning in 2017. But the Republican took a defeat from Joe Biden last year. Following the defeat, his supporters attacked United States Capitol in Washington D.C on January 6 this year which resulted one five deaths including one by shooting.
