Four hospitalised after light aircraft crash lands into beach in Wexford

Four people were hospitalised following a light aircraft crash landed into a beach in Co Wexford on Thursday. The incident happened around 5.10 pm at Carnsore Point after engine failure.

Irish Coast Guard helicopters from Dublin and Waterford attended the scene and two men in their 20s and 50s, and two women in their 30s had been taken to the hospital. Their injuries are said to be non-life threatening.

Carnsore/Rosslare Coast Guard unit, Dunmore East Lifeboat and Garda also attended the scene and the place is sealed for further investigation. Air Accident Investigation Unit and Irish Aviation Authority will look into the reasons for crash.

The light aircraft Vulcanair P68 is registered in France and has twin engines. It was the pilot’s skills that avoided casualties.
