Further 2,098 Covid cases confirmed in the country; 42 more walk-in vaccination centres this week

Ireland has confirmed further 2,098 Covid-19 infections in the country today. As per the latest reports there are 251 people being treated in hospitals due to Covid complications. 52 of them are in intensive care units.

Meanwhile the HSE has said 42 walk-in Covid vaccination centres will be operational from this weekend as more than half million vaccines arrived in Ireland. People aged 16 and above can go directly to these walk-in centres and avail first and second dose of vaccines. To know these centres in the country log on to hse.ie.

If you are approaching the centre for your second dose, then you must provide proof of first dose vaccination. This can be the vaccination card. People who have taken first dose vaccines outside of walk-in centres can also avail second dose from here. The HSE will make sure that you are getting same vaccine for both shots.

For Pfizer vaccine, time interval for second dose is between 17 and 27 days. For AstraZeneca it is 24 days.

The health department said 130,000 children from 12-15 have been registered in the country after the start of vaccination portal for this age cohort last week. 65,000 of them already availed first dose of the vaccines. The Central Statistics Office had earlier suggested that almost 269,000 children were there in the country in this cohort.
