India vs New Zealand 1st ODI: IND beat NZ by 12 runs, lead series 1-0

Team India delivered an outstanding performance to win the ODI series by a margin of 12 runs, giving the home team a 1-0 series lead against New Zealand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.

Shubman Gill scored his maiden ODI double-century and became the youngest ever to the milestone. His magnificent 208 off 149 powered India to 349/8 in 50 overs after they opted to bat first in the series opener.

India was frustrated by Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner as they put together a 150-plus partnership for the seventh wicket. As New Zealand chases a mammoth 350-run target, Bracewell has completed his century, and Santner contributed with a crucial 57 before being dismissed by Mohammed Siraj.

Kuldeep Yadav was the standout bowler with two wickets, home boy Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur have also struck.  With this win, India take 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
