An Irish seven-year-old girl is in critical condition following an incident at a swimming pool on the Spanish island of Mallorca.
The child was treated at the scene by emergency services before being transferred to a hospital in Palma.
Emergency services on the Balearic island said they were called to a hotel at Cales de Mallorca yesterday afternoon.
The girl was treated for cardiorespiratory arrest using CPR.
She was transferred to the University Hospital Son Espases near Palma.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said it is providing assistance to her family.
“As with all consular cases, the Department does not comment on the details of any specific case,” they added.
The hotel she was rushed to hospital from has been named the four-star HYB Eurocalas Hotel in the east coast resort of Calas de Mallorca.
