Irish supermarkets hit with fruit and vegetable shortage due to weather issues

Due to weather-related problems in Europe and North Africa, Irish stores are experiencing shortages of various common fruits and vegetables.

The supply networks of many retailers, including SuperValu, Tesco, and Lidl, have admitted being affected by the subfreezing temperatures in nations like Spain.

Because of this, shelves that are fully loaded to the full with fruits and vegetables, like strawberries and raspberries, peppers, tomatoes, and cucumbers, are reduced.

Morocco has had adverse weather conditions for cultivating crops, with problems like storms and flooding.

Spain has also experienced below-freezing temperatures in recent weeks, which has prevented the crops from growing properly.

Tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and several salad goods are temporarily unavailable, Tesco Ireland said RTE News. In an effort to refill supply, Lidl and SuperValu both claimed to be in contact with suppliers.

There are now shortages in the UK as a result of the problem. For customers to not be able to purchase the entire stock, supermarkets like Asda and Morrisons have restricted the selling of specific fruits and vegetables.
