A 66-year-old Irish woman was found dead inside a rented apartment in Goa on Monday. According to the police, the lady was living alone in the apartment in Candolim, a small town in the well-known tourist spot.
Police said Mary Gertrude McNamara’s body was discovered by her British friend who broke open the flat’s door after she failed to answer calls and messages, reported Irish Mirror.
The room in which the woman’s body was found was also locked from inside, they added. The police believe the woman may have been dead for several days before her body was discovered.
The police have stated investigations and waiting for the autopsy report.
As per rules, the Indian police have contacted the Irish consulate before proceeding with the post-mortem examination so that a representative of the consulate can be present during the same.
