Johnny Depp spent nearly Rs 48 lakh at Indian restaurant in UK

Hollywood star Johnny Depp reportedly ‘celebrated’ the verdict of his court battle against ex-wife Amber Heard, with a curry dinner.

According to the reports, the actor spent $62,000 (Rs 48.1 lakh) on a special dinner with friends at an Indian restaurant in Birmingham England on Sunday.

Johnny visited the Indian restaurant named Varanasi along with 20 of his friends, including guitarist Jeff Beck.

The actor was awarded $15 million by a court in Fairfax, Virginia, last week in the defamation case against Amber Heard. Heard was awarded only $2 million.

Depp’s security team reportedly checked the city centre facility before the actor’s arrival. Post the gala dinner the actor hugged and spoke to the staff of the eatery.

Operation Director of Varanasi, Mohammed Hussain said that the restaurant was informed about Depp’s visit on short notice.
“I was shocked, and at first, I thought it might have been a joke. But then his security team arrived and checked out the restaurant, and we let them have the whole place because we were concerned that he might be bothered by other diners,” Hussain added.

Johnny Depp, guitarist Jeff Beck, and 20 others stayed on for three hours before heading out. Depp met with the manager’s friends and family before leaving the restaurant. The staff at the restaurant said he seemed like a ‘down-to-earth bloke’.

Hussain said that he had to promise that the restaurant would not reveal the final bill for the dinner that night. However, he added that the bill easily came out to be in five figures and reportedly it was around $62,000. “We made more money from Johnny Depp’s visit than we did from our busiest night of the week, which is a Saturday when we have around 400 diners,” Hussain highlighted.

Johnny Depp and his friends enjoyed some of the authentic Indian dishes that included chicken tikka, paneer tikka masala, shish kebabs, tandoori prawns, lamb kadahi, naans and rice. They also celebrated with some rose Champagne.

Depp has been in the UK and touring with Beck ever since the trial of his case got over.
