Large Asteroid All Set To Sweep Past Earth In March. Closest Approach In 200 Years

One of the largest and fastest asteroids about to zoom past Earth on 31 March 2021. Asteroid 2001 FO32 is considered a potentially hazardous asteroid by NASA says that it’s orbit is well known and the impact which it can make will be less in the Earth.

The asteroid is expected to move at a speed of 34.4 kmps and will have a 1 kilometre diameter. It will come closest to the earth on March 21 at expected time is 9:33 PM IST. It’s closest point to earth will be about 1.3 million miles away. Scientists predict that this asteroid will again pass by earth on March 22, 2052. The asteroid could be detected using backyard telescopes, 8″ diameter or larger telescopes and can be seen as a slow moving star and it drifts in front of the stars in real time.

Asteroid 2001 FO32 was first discovered by the Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) on 23 March, 2001 at Socorro, New Mexico.
