The Lotto website and app are facing “technical difficulties” just before a bumper €19m jackpot draw tonight.
The highly-anticipated draw for the record prize seems to have sent the Irish public into a Lotto fever, as owners were struggling to cope with demand for tickets this evening.
The National Lottery tweeted: “Due to high traffic volumes, we are experiencing some technical difficulties with our website and app.
“Our technical teams are currently working to rectify the issue. Thank you for your patience while we try and resolve the issue.”
They added earlier: “Tickets for tonight’s the Lotto draw can still be purchased in-store before 7.45 PM.”
The largest ever Lotto prize in the history of the game goes up for grabs tonight – and officials had urged the public to get their tickets early to avoid a rush.
The jackpot stands at €19,060,800. It has been postponed since June and a single winner of the draw would become the largest prize winner ever.
The funds that would normally go to the jackpot will now be distributed to the next lower prize tier at which there are winners.
