“My Vision for Dublin” Poster competition

As part of the City Development Plan Review,poster competition based on “My vision for Dublin” is open now for Dublin primary school kids from 3rd- 6th class. The deadline has been extended until April 30th and I’m looking forward to seeing your creations.

In their entry students are welcome to focus on any or all of the issues outlined below, which are the key issues identified in this first stage of the Pre-draft Dublin City Development Plan 2022-2028 consultation process:

  1. Shaping the City – how our city will grow and develop.
  2. Climate Action – protecting our city against pollution, flooding and other climate risks.
  3. Quality Housing and Sustainable Neighbourhoods – providing quality housing and sustainable neighbourhoods.
  4. The City Economy – sharing the benefits across all communities.
  5. Sustainable Movement and Transport – promoting and using more environmentally friendly transport options.
  6. The City, Urban Villages and Retail – helping retail in our city and neighbourhoods such as Phibsborough and Rathmines.
  7. Green Infrastructure, Open Space, Recreation and Natural Heritage – developing more outdoor spaces for sports and play opportunities, while protecting our rivers and canals and parks.
  8. Built Heritage and Archaeology – protecting important historical and archaeological sites.
  9. Culture – maintaining and developing our arts and cultural heritage.
  10. Sustainable Environmental Infrastructure and Flood Risk – including flood risk protection, water supply and good digital connections.

Senior Primary School Students (3rd- 6th class) living in Dublin or attending school in Dublin

Prizes

2nd Place      Book tokens to the value of €50 to Student and €150 to their School

3rdPlace        Book tokens to the value of €40 to Student and €100 to their School

The three overall winning posters will be included in the Dublin City Council Development Plan 2022-2028.  A photomontage of the entries to the poster competition may be posted on the Development Plan website Link to www.dublincitydevelopmentplan.ie and a selection may be included in the draft Dublin City Development Plan 2022-2028, the final Plan and be used for promotional purposes related to the Plan.

Terms & Conditions

  1. Promoter: The Promoter is Dublin City Council
  2. Entries: Entry to the competition is free. No purchase is necessary. No responsibility is taken for entries that are lost, delayed, misdirected or incomplete or cannot be delivered or entered for any technical or other reason. Proof of delivery of the entry is not proof of receipt. Once submitted entries become the property of Dublin City Council and will not be returned to the student, school or parent/guardian. The poster must be the original work of the primary school student and only 1 entry per student may be made.
  3. Poster Size: Posters must be single-sided and A4 size only (21 x 29.7 cm).
  4. Entry Details: Each entry submitted must be accompanied by the following details on a separate page to the poster: a. Student’s Name; b. Age; c. Class; d. Name of School; e. Address of School; f. Contact phone number of school; g. Email Address of School or Parent/Guardian; h. Name of Teacher or Parent/Guardian; i. Signature of Teacher or Parent/Guardian.
  5. Competition Address: Entries should be submitted by email to: DublinCityCouncilPosterComp@whpr.ie  or by post to: Development Plan Team, Dublin City Council Poster Competition, Planning & Property Development Department, Block 4, Floor 3, Civic Offices, Wood Quay, Dublin 8.
  6. Closing Date: Entries must be received by 4pm, Friday 30th April 2021.
  7. Notification: Competition winners will be notified in early May by either post /telephone/email.
  8. Judging: An independent panel of judges will select the winning entries. The judges’ decision is final. No correspondence relating to the competition will be entered into.
  9. Publicity: Entries may be used for promotional purposes related to the Development Plan at the discretion of Dublin City Council such as placing on public display in City Council offices, on City Council websites, and social media. Photographs of the winners together with their names and ages may be used in publicity campaigns where the parents or guardians of the winners have given their consent.
  10. Eligibility: The competition is open to all Senior Primary Students (3rd- 6th class) attending school in Dublin or living in Dublin. Except the children and close relatives of the judging panel are not eligible.
  11. Data: Personal Data will be held by Dublin City Council (Data Controller) and can be shared with its PR company (Data Processor) for the purpose of this competition. It will not be sold and will not be passed to any third parties. Data will be held for a GDPR compliant duration by Dublin City Council will/may be used for the following: (i) to check that entries comply with these terms and are eligible to apply; (ii) to notify successful applicants; (iii) to administer the Promotion; (iv) to announce the winners.
