A house fire at Glenflesk in County Kerry resulted in the recovery of a person’s body, who is thought to be a local man in his 60s.
A passing motorist who saw flames coming from the two-story house, about 10 kilometres from Killarney, called the fire department shortly after midnight.
The detached house sustained significant structural damage as a result of the two hours spent battling the blaze by four units of the first service from Tralee and Killarney.
Inside the home, the body of the resident man was found by the firefighters. The man is thought to have been the only resident of the home at the time.
The scene is being technically examined by the Garda, who also stated that a post-mortem examination of the body would be performed later and would determine how the investigation would proceed.
