Gardai warn the public about a text scam circulating in the country possibly linked to hackers. The text is disguised to look like a missed call text alert.
People are getting text messages mentioning that they had a missed call from an unknown entity and asks them to click on a link to know details.
But once clicked the link, it may lead to harmful websites and can leak your personal data including bank account details and PIN numbers.
If you are receiving such messages, immediately delete them and never click on the link.
According to Gardai, online financial frauds have been increased since the start of the pandemic in Ireland.
