Prominent Irish Muslim Scholar Attacked in Dublin: Gardaí Launch Investigation

In a shocking incident, Sheikh Dr. Umar al-Qadri, the founder and head of the Irish Muslim Council, fell victim to a suspected hate crime in Tallaght, Dublin. The attack occurred on Thursday evening during his visit for a meeting, leading to injuries on his left cheek and front teeth. The scholar, who has been residing in Ireland for the past 21 years, expressed his belief that the assault was pre-planned.

After the attack, al-Qadri was rendered unconscious, but quick assistance from friendly locals and the Gardaí ensured his swift transportation to the hospital via ambulance. A CT scan revealed no further complications, except for the injuries sustained during the assault. Despite this ordeal, al-Qadri, in a social media post, conveyed his gratitude towards the Irish woman and her male partner who came to his aid, emphasizing that he does not view Ireland negatively due to this isolated incident. Gardaí have initiated an investigation into the matter to bring those responsible to justice.
