Tesco Ireland has announced a pay hike of 3 per cent for most of its hourly paid workers effective January 1.
An average Tesco worker will earn €17.60 per hour from next year onwards.
The supermarket group, which employs around 13,500 people in Ireland, has made €14 million investment in pay and benefits and builds on similar increases announced last year.
In addition to the pay hike, Tesco announced an increase in paid maternity, adoptive, paternity leave.
While fully paid maternity leave will almost double from 14 weeks to 26 weeks, fully paid adoptive leave will rise from 14 weeks to 24 weeks for those with over 12 months’ service.
The fully paid paternity leave will also double to two weeks for those with over six months’ service.
The grocery retailer also stated that these benefits are on top of the regular benefits such as the annual bonus, annual €2,000 colleague discount, free virtual GP service.
