Alistair Anit and Melvin Benoy, two students from Aidan’s CBS Whitehall School in Dublin, are gearing up to represent Ireland at the upcoming World School Cross Country Championships in Kenya. Hailing from Indian-origin families, Alistair, the son of Sylvia Joseph, and Melvin, the son of Benoy and Tomsey from St Margaret’s, are set to showcase their running prowess on the international stage.

Accompanied by their coach Alan O’Neill, the dynamic duo will depart for Nairobi today, where they will join other talented athletes from around the globe in the prestigious championship. Ahead of the competition, the Irish team will have the honor of visiting the residence of the Irish Ambassador to Kenya in Nairobi, adding a touch of diplomatic flair to their journey.

Organized annually by the International School Sport Federation (ISF), this championship brings together young athletes aged 13 to 18 to compete in various sports disciplines. This year, the event boasts the participation of 450 athletes, each eager to demonstrate their skills and sportsmanship on the challenging courses of Nairobi.

As Alistair, Melvin, and their fellow teammates embark on this exciting adventure, they carry with them the hopes and support of their school, community, and country. Let’s cheer them on as they race towards glory in Kenya!
