The number of Covid patients in hospitals show a concerning rise in Ireland for the past two days. As per the latest report there are 314 people being treated in hospitals due to complications from Covid infection. Some of them are in ICUs too.
A new report reveals that almost 9.5% of all patients in ICU are pregnant women since the end of June. There were warnings earlier that pregnant women can face more risk from the virus compared to the others. It is also said the low intake of vaccine among expectant mothers is the key issue for this situation.
The vaccination rate among pregnant women is just one in three, according to a report by Irish Examiner. This figure is in contradiction to the earlier assumptions that 60% of pregnant women would get vaccinated in the country by now.
Even if people are fit and healthy, they can still pose risk from the corona virus if they get pregnant, experts warn. The pregnancy can further weaken your body’s immunity, they add.
The health experts have already made it clear that expectant mothers can avail Covid vaccine and there are no evidences suggesting it would harm the baby. They also urge pregnant women to get vaccinate and avoid taking chances.
