A flight from Dublin to Boston was forced to make a diversion to Iceland due to a “technical issue” with the aircraft.
On Wednesday afternoon, Aer Lingus aircraft EI133 departed from Dublin Airport before announcing an emergency and doing a U-turn over the Atlantic. At Keflavik International Airport, all of the passengers thankfully exited safely, according to Dublin Live.
The passengers were taken back to Dublin by a rescue flight before being transported yesterday to Boston. They received overnight accommodations as well.
An Aer Lingus spokesman said: “Aer Lingus flight EI133 from Dublin to Boston made a diversion to Keflavik International Airport in Iceland yesterday due to a technical issue with the aircraft. The aircraft landed in Keflavik and all passengers and crew disembarked safely.
“Aer Lingus operated a recovery flight to Keflavik International Airport yesterday evening to bring passengers back to Dublin where they were accommodated overnight, before being flown to Boston today on Aer Lingus’ daily direct services.”
