Eir will extend Gigabit Fibre Network service to 200,000 homes more

The leading broadband network provider in Ireland, Eir will extend its Gigabit Fibre Network service to further 200,000 homes and offices across the country. As the demand for internet increased during the pandemic, Eir aims to cover 84% of the premises with 1.9 million connections.

Under the government’s plan, highspeed internet all over the country is offered through commercial and state-owned service providers. While Eir will have 1.8 million premised covered, the remaining 540,000 will be covered by state’s National Broadband Plan.

With Covid, work from home and online classes have become very popular in Ireland as well as around the world. The excess release of movies and series through web platforms also demand high speed internet connection.
