Fingal County Council has approved a 348-unit apartment scheme as part of a mixed-use development in Blanchardstown.
Blanche Retail Nominees Ltd, which is owned by BNY Mellon, plans to build six apartment buildings with up to 13 stories on land next to Blanchardstown Library that is now used for parking.
To facilitate the development, the proposal also includes five commercial units and community facilities, as well as the extension of an existing multi-story car park from four to six levels.
The original apartment scheme was made up of 44 studios, 132 one-bed apartments, 155 two-bed apartments and 21 three-bed apartments before the council ordered the omission of four units.
After concluding that the O’Mahony Pike-designed scheme would assist consolidate the Blanchardstown town centre and enable residential development close to current services and facilities, the council granted planning approval.
The planning study that recommended that planning permission be given determined that the proposal would offer a satisfactory quality of residential amenity and would not have an undue impact on the area’s amenities.
