Indian women lift inaugural U19 T20 World Cup with 7-wicket win over England

India’s young women scripted history on Sunday by winning the inaugural ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup.

India’s expert young girls put on an all-around performance to defeat England by 7 wickets in the championship.

Shafali Verma and company put on an impressive performance against the England women’s team in the championship game to lift the prestigious trophy.

India defeated England for a meagre total of 68 after Shafali decided to bowl first in the one-sided match. The target wasn’t too difficult for the Women in Blue to chase down, and they ended up winning the game by seven wickets with six overs left.

Titas Sadhu, Archana Devi, and Parshavi Chopra claimed two wickets each, while Mannat Kashyap, Shafali Verma and Sonam Yadav shared one scalp each to dismantle the English batting line-up.

Soumya Tiwari’s unbeaten score of 24 helped India easily reach the goal. While Gongadi Trisha also scored 24 runs, she was out just three runs before the historic moment.

The BCCI, delighted with India’s historic triumph,, announced the Rs 5 crore prize money for the women’s U-19 cricket team and support staff.
