In a move to bolster Ireland’s veterinary education and support the agriculture sector, two new veterinary schools are set to open their doors at Irish universities. Taoiseach Simon Harris announced the development of these state-of-the-art facilities, which will be located at South East Technological University (Setu) in Kilkenny and Atlantic Technological University (ATU) in Donegal and Galway campuses.
The expansion aims to address the growing demand for veterinary professionals across the country. With Ireland’s strong agricultural heritage, these new schools are expected to play a crucial role in maintaining the health and welfare of livestock, as well as supporting the broader animal care industry.
According to the Irish Examiner, these new campuses will offer cutting-edge facilities and resources to train the next generation of veterinarians. The strategic locations in Kilkenny and Galway will provide students from various parts of Ireland with improved access to veterinary education, potentially easing the strain on existing veterinary programs and increasing the number of qualified professionals entering the field.
