Vodafone Ireland will provide employees who are taking care of a vulnerable person—not only family members—with an additional 10 days of paid leave and flexible scheduling options.
According to the employer, the 10 days of leave will be used for everything from therapy appointments to hospital visits.
Flexible start and finish hours and hybrid working will be offered as additional support.
Noelle Burke, Human Resources Director at Vodafone Ireland said, “When I see the research that half of carers feel they are being held back from promotion and that by 2030, 1 in 5 in Ireland will have a caring role outside of work, I can see that more awareness and workplace supports are needed for this valuable group of people.”
The Bank of Ireland has launched a new collaboration with Family Carers Ireland to offer information and assistance to employees who have domestic caregiving duties.
The bank reported that around 14% of its 9,000 employees work in a caring capacity.
As part of the cooperation, managers will receive advice and training on how to assist their teams with parenting and care duties in addition to providing information, resources, and supports to workers.
