Indian ace filmmaker G Aravindan’s Malayalam cult-classic Kummatty impressed Hollywood filmmaker Martin Scorsese.
The master director on Tuesday announced that he will present the restored version of Kummatty(1979) under, The Film Foundation Restoration Screening Room.

“Govindan’s Kummatty is an adaptation of a Central Kerala folktale featuring a partly mythic and partly real magician called Kummatty. A sweet and engaging story and a visually stunning film, Kummatty is a must-see, especially since it has been largely unavailable outside of India until now,” wrote Mr. Scorsese, the maker of Hollywood classics such as Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Gangs of New York, The Wolf of Wall Street and The Irishman.
Bollywood star Ranveer Singh took to Martin Scorsese’s comments section and shared a heart emoji. Also, several Indian film lovers in the comments section thanked Scorsese for picking the film and called it a proud moment for Malayalam, Indian cinema.
