Major Crystal Meth Seizure at Cork Port: Over 540kg Worth €32.8 Million Confiscated

In a joint operation this morning, An Garda Síochána and Revenue’s Customs Service successfully seized over 540kg of suspected crystal meth at Cork Port. The estimated street value of the synthetic drugs is €32.8 million, marking the largest-ever crystal meth seizure in Ireland. Two men in their 40s were apprehended in follow-up searches in Kerry and Cork, currently held at Garda stations under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act. The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking and organized crime by Gardaí from the Kerry Divisional Drugs Unit. Additionally, two firearms were confiscated during the operation. The origin and destination of the drugs remain unknown at this stage. Authorities are diligently probing the possibility of local manufacturing and international transportation.
