Tanaiste reveals that no international travel will recommence till August

Tanaiste Leo Varadkar had confirmed that the Cabinet will decide to frame the roadmap allowing to recommence international travel in summer. He said that international travel will only be allowed to commence by August. The EU digital green certificate will be in place by by June and member states are given six weeks to adopt it. The decision on removing EU member states from mandatory quarantine list may not be taken soon.

He said countries like Brazil and other parts of the developing world are not as advanced as Ireland in terms of vaccinations. There will be some form of mandatory hotel quarantine remaining in place for people travelling to and from those ‘high risk places’, he said. But when it comes to UK, Europe and the US, it may be possible to go there sooner as they have advanced vaccination programmes.
