Huge 142kg cannabis seizure worth €2.8m at Dublin Port; man arrested

Over €2.8 million worth of cannabis was seized at Dublin Port, leading to the arrest of a 40-year-old man.

As part of a routine operation earlier today, Revenue officers found 142kg of herbal cannabis.

The illegal drugs were discovered when officers stopped and searched a vehicle which had arrived from France.

This seizure was made as part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.

“If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding drug smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on phone number 1800 295 295,” a spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, a guy was arrested last week as part of a narcotics investigation that seized more than €1 million worth of cannabis.

The operation was conducted by the Garda National Drugs, Organised Crime Bureau and the Dublin Metropolitan Region North Central Divisional Drug Unit.
